I got the most amazing opportunity to spend a day at Diggerland by drone. The management of the park invited the Jersey Droners to come and fly while the park was open. We were even featured on the park calendar as drones sort of go with the theme and ambiance of the park.

Location
Diggerland is a theme park just outside of Philadelphia in the Jersey suburbs. It is a construction-themed park. The concept is simple – construction equipment as amusement rides! Kids even get to drive the equipment.

The park is geared towards little kids, so there are no big roller coasters. There are rides like the spin dizzy, an excavator that spins around while riders sit in the bucket. They have backhoes, dump trucks, Jeeps, skid loaders, and bulldozers. One of my boys’ favorite rides was the mini excavators that they got to operate to dig in the sand.
There is also a waterpark connected to the park. The waterpark is more like a big pool than anything else. There is a water slide, obstacle course, and lazy river. It is not a full-featured waterpark, but it sure felt good to jump in the water after a hot day of flying.

I want to thank the management of Diggerland for this amazing opportunity to fly and capture Diggerland by drone. It may be my most unique drone experience yet.
Flight Experience
We arrived at 9:30 am before the park opened. It was one of the largest Jersey Droner events so far. So there were some crowded skies, and you had to be careful.
The waterpark opened at 10 am, but the rest of the park did not open until 12 pm. So we had a good amount of time to fly around the park without any people.
The biggest concern was flying after the rides opened up. The good thing was that as the morning wore on, many of the Droners began to leave. By the time the rides opened, there were only about six of us still flying.
This was the best time to fly. Most of the clips I used for my video were taken after the rides opened. These were the most interesting clips because they included people who best depicted a day at Diggerland by drone.
One of the things you had to be aware of during this event was flying over people. It helped that the park was not very crowded this day. And the park also has some wide-open spaces to give room for the equipment. There are only a few main walkways in the park for people. Most of the west side of the park is a dirt track.
Editing Diggerland by Drone
The more I have made these videos, the faster my editing has gone. I did not do any fancy editing. It was mostly a matter of splicing clips together and a bit of color correction.
I had more video than I normally have had. But I mostly used the videos I took after the park opened up. I hope you enjoy my video of Diggerland by drone.
