My latest drone mission with my Mavic Mini was close to home. In fact, it was right across our street. Spring has sprung in New Jersey, and I live across from the Hauser Hill Farms and apple orchard in Old Bridge. The blossoms on the apple trees have bloomed in arrays of pink and white, creating a beautiful scene. So I wanted to make an Apple blossom drone video.
It is fun to live across from the farm and to observe the activity. We get to watch the chickens, ducks, turkeys, and more. Occasionally, the chickens will cross the road and come into our front yard. One Sunday morning, I walked out of the house only to see a sheep that had escaped bounding across the road to me. Hauser’s have their fruit stand open during the summer, and it convenient to get fruits and vegetables. We also get fresh farm eggs that are available year-round and firewood for the fireplace in the winter.
Regarding this video, the best clips are the ones where I flow low and close to the trees. The clips from higher altitudes fail to capture the color of the scene. There is still no foliage on the larger trees.
I filmed this video at two separate times. Some were during a bright and sunny afternoon. I did not use an ND filter on the Mavic Mini and had some difficulty capturing the color. Other clips were taken early in the morning. These clips are much more satisfying.
This is a simple edit. I did not use any special transitions or effects. But I did do a fair amount of work on trying to balance the color.
I hope you enjoy this apple blossom drone video that captured a few of the scenes from Hauser Hill Farms this spring. As a side note, I may or may not have purchased another drone. Stay tuned.
