Location
I went back to one of my favorite places to fly, the Old Bridge South Amboy Waterfront. I have several videos from this location, including a video of the Great Beds Lighthouse and the Old Bridge Waterfront Park. It is a more extended flight to the lighthouse from Old Bridge than South Amboy but is still a manageable distance.
The primary purpose of this flight was to catch fireworks. South Amboy was setting off fireworks to conclude the local Irish festival. We took off from Old Bridge Waterfront Park to avoid the crowds and traffic in South Amboy.
Along with the fireworks, I also captured an incredible sunset. I also got the Great Beds Lighthouse, the NJ Transit Train, the Rt 35 drawbridge, and boats. This video has a little of everything in it.
Flight Experience
You may also be able to spot another drone in the video. I joined a fellow droner at the park to capture the fireworks. When I arrived, there were two photoshoots. I interacted a bit with one of the photographers as he talked about his flying his drone. Overall, I had some pleasant interactions with other people at the park. I was asked several times how far I could fly the drone. It is by far the #1 question I get asked.
Edit
I feel as if I am getting better at color grading and editing. I filmed the video in DLog, applied the DJI Lut for Air 2s, and manually tweaked the exposure and saturation.
In the opening shot of the lighthouse, I flew my Air 2s directly at the lighthouse. One person on social media asked me if I was using a Mavic Zoom to achieve the shot. I learned early on when I was studying photography that the best zoom lens is your feet. In the case of a drone, it is to fly closer to the subject. I will confess, however, that I did apply some Ken Burns effect to accentuate the zoom.
So this is my video from the Old Bridge South Amboy Waterfront, capturing the sunset and fireworks. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
